Is your webcam or mic not working? Troubleshooting webcam and mic tips
Check your microphone
Check the dropdown at the top of the mic and webcam test to see if your mic is connected. If you haven’t given the page the correct permissions, the mic test could be blocked.
If you’re using an external mic, make sure it’s connected to your device.
Check your webcam
To make sure your webcam is connected, check the dropdown at the top of the webcam test page. The webcam test could be blocked if you haven’t given the page the correct permissions. If you’re using an external webcam, make sure it’s plugged in, turned on and connected to your device.
Check your mic and webcam are connected
Make sure your computer recognizes your devices if you’re using a plug-in mic or external webcam. Check your connections and make sure they’re plugged in correctly and have all the latest drivers installed.
For more information on using an external webcam, you can check out these guides for Windows and macOS.
For external microphones, learn how to change the sound input settings on Mac and Windows.
Check your browser permissions
To test your webcam and microphone, you’ll need to give your browser access. Make sure you click Allow when your browser prompts you to access your camera and microphone. This will usually appear as a popup.
If you miss the prompt, or your test fails, you can first reload the webpage or manually check your webcam browser permissions in Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.
